The Mapmaker’s Dream at Haines Gallery

Opening on November 5th, Haines Gallery is hosting The Mapmaker’s Dream, an exhibition which brings together five artist whose works propose inventive and visually compelling ways to map the world around us.

The show will feature Recipe for Tuesday Sunsets (2015) by Marius Bercea – a large-scale artwork depicting an abstract and fantastic vision of the neighborhoods of Los Angeles –, Linda Connor‘s latest photographic sublimation prints, capturing details of Renaissance artist Jacopo de’ Barbari’s Bird’s Eye View of Venice (1500 c.), Chris McCaw‘s over-exposed images from the Sunburn series and Pae White‘s digital animation Dying Oak/Elephant (2009), a mesmerizing exploration of natural form.

On this occasion, Italian artist Maurizio Anzeri will be presenting his latest unreleased work On the Lake (2015)a sixteen-piece constellation of embroidered, black-and-white images of landscapes dominated by water.

Maurizio Anzeri’s embroidered photographs were previously featured in Fantom Issue 02, Winter 2010 (Read it here), and presented in a site-specific installation at the Fantom-Marsèlleria booth at miart 2015.
